Leland Upton is a journal for people who use technology to do real work. Honest guides for the curious reader, written by people who build, buy and test things, not by a sales team.
Who we are
We are a small crew of developers, designers, marketers and technology writers who got tired of launch decks pretending to be advice. Leland Upton started in 2026 as a shared notebook of tool costs, test results and workflow notes, passed between friends who kept asking the same question: is this actually worth it?
Our mission
Every week we publish free guides across five sections: mobile apps, cloud computing, web tools, link building and affiliate marketing. You get real 2026 prices, tested workflows and decisions you can act on before you commit, with no affiliate spin choosing the winner.
Editorial standards
No sponsored picks and no pay-to-rank lists. We use primary documentation, published prices and our own tests, disclose any relationship, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours. Numbers come from official pricing pages and real invoices, never from a press release alone. If a claim fails verification, we say so.
The team
Leland Upton runs the desk as editor. Reporting comes from contributing developers, designers and marketers who file their own notes and screenshots, and every guide is checked by a second editor before it ships. None of us take payment from the products we cover.
Talk to us
Corrections, tips and reader questions are welcome at [email protected] or through our contact page. We reply within one business day, and we read every note. If we got something wrong, tell us and we will fix it where everyone can see the change.
